Shingle Street

the beach

A few weeks ago my Dad and I drove up to shingle street, an almost completely deserted beach near Southwold to celebrate me finishing the end of my A-levels. We killed the first day swimming, reading and talking until as the dusk gathered it was time to light a fire, cook some food and fall asleep under the stars (old school).

I’ve always enjoyed being outside and the empty expanse of the stone beach dotted with the occasional cabbage-like plant provided a rather surreal setting to take my mind off academic study and just appreciate what was around me. It was a refreshing change of scene from row upon row of students at desks working in crashing silence and it reminded me that it doesn’t take a lot to have a good time.
